Murphy Seifert

Murphy Seifert began her dance training in ballet and tap at Beverly Miller’s School of Dance in Alice, Texas. She later expanded her training in Corpus Christi under Ella Elsie, focusing on ballet technique. Early in her journey, she spent two summers at American Dance Camp in Gulfport, Mississippi, studying with renowned instructors such as Alexandria Doniliva, Sallie Wilson, Patricia Neary, and Matt Mattox.

At 13, Murphy attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where she trained 4–6 hours daily in classical ballet, pointe, and a variety of modern dance techniques, including Humphrey-Weidman, Jose Limon, Martha Graham, and Merce Cunningham styles. Her summers were filled with intensive training at the School of American Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and the modern dance companies she studied, as well as an unforgettable summer at Rosella Hightower's Ecole De Danse in Cannes, France.

Murphy continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in ballet and modern dance under the instruction of legends Miguel Terekhov and Yvonne Chouteau. She later danced professionally for 12 years in Cleveland, Ohio, performing with Cleveland Ballet, serving as a principal dancer with New Dance Ensemble, and working as a soloist with Phenix Repertory Dance Theatre. During this time, she also developed and directed children’s programs in ballet, modern, and jazz at Lorain County Community College and the Elyria YMCA.

Beyond her professional performance career, Murphy founded and directed Black Forest Dance in Colorado Springs and spent nearly a decade teaching and choreographing for Colorado Springs Ballet Society. She has extensive experience producing and rehearsing classical ballet, contemporary ballet, jazz, and modern dance works.

Murphy is passionate about fostering both artistry and discipline in her students and is thrilled to bring her lifelong love of dance, performance, and teaching to Dance Republic’s inaugural season.
