Kylen Welch-Porter
Kylen was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where her love for dance began at just two years old. With over 20 years of training, she has developed a strong foundation in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and acro—starting in the studio world before moving into competitive dance.
In high school, Kylen joined the inaugural First Line of the Glenn High School Guardians, where she trained in drill, kick, and pom. She served as Sophomore Sergeant, First Lieutenant, and eventually Captain, leading her team with passion and pride.
Kylen continued her dance journey in college—first at the University of Texas, then at Suffolk University in Boston, where she danced on and eventually co-captained the Suffolk Dance Company. While in Boston, she choreographed several group pieces and had the exciting opportunity to perform at Boston Celtics games.
With six years of teaching experience across both Texas and Massachusetts, Kylen believes that dance is more than movement—it’s a place to grow, connect, and find home. Her goal is to foster a space where dancers feel safe, seen, and supported. She is thrilled to bring her heart, creativity, and leadership to Dance Republic!
